Scuffle in Holding Cell at St. John’s Police Station Leaves One Dead

A 64-year-old Jenning’s man was confirmed dead after being seriously injured by a fellow prisoner at the St. John’s Police Station.

The deceased- Leroy Caesar of Jennings village- was detained together with an unnamed individual when the two allegedly got into a fight.

It is unclear at this time what caused Caesar’s death but reports state that he was found unresponsive in the cell sometime around 9:20 pm on Wednesday.

He was then transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center by the EMS and later pronounced dead by a medical doctor around 10:38 pm.

The suspect remains in custody as the police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This is the country’s 17 murder and comes just two days following the murder of Jace Merrick in Willikies.
