The Police has issued a warning to bar and nightclub operastors that no violations of the COVID-19 restrictions would be permitted during the holiday season.
The Police are not in the business of putting individuals out of business, according to Everton Jeffers, Deputy Commissioner of Police. “We’re attempting to preserve lives and stop the COVID-19 virus from spreading,” he said.
He advises businesses to make sure they have people at their entrances, counting the highest number of customers permitted to enter their establishment.
Failure to adhere to these regulations, he claims, will result in severe penalties.
“There will be periodic inspections, and if these establishments are discovered to have more than they are intended to have, the business operator will be in trouble,” Jeffers adds.
He went on to say that owners of bars and nightclubs must realize that following these guidelines won’t cause issues, but would instead save lives and avert an epidemic.
“If the operators disobey these restrictions, they will be at a disadvantage since they would incur a significant financial loss due to fines.”
