Less than a month away from the 39th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the twin island state and the People’s Republic of China, the nation is welcoming a new Chinese Ambassador- H.E. Mme. Zhang Yanling.
In a courtesy call to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Trade- Honorable Chet Greene, Ambassador Zhang expressed her excitement and joy for being able to represent her country for future joint endeavours with Antigua and Barbuda.
She also commended the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for the it’s prescience, and the strength of the diplomatic relations with China since its inception.
Minister Chet Greene also expressed his appreciation and highlighted the firm relationship between the two countries stating that ‘a legacy of support, commitment and cooperation exists between both our countries that will only be further strengthened through this new appointment’.
Since the onset of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations, the People’s Republic of China has contributed to several aspects of the Antiguan economy including infrastructural developments, employment opportunities and generous donations to the country’s health sector.
The 39th Anniversary will be celebrated on January 1st 2022.
