Hope for limited access to beaches

Trinidad’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has offered a glimmering hope to beach goers as limited access to the country’s beaches may happen soon.

Dr. Rowley said during a news conference at his Blenheim residence, partying and congregating at the beaches are contributing factors to the increase in the numbers of OCVID 19 cases hence they remained closed.

He said and i quote “ its not the beach itself that we are worried about you know, its not being in the water, its the congregation and the partying around the beaches that we are concerned about and you here in tobago know that because as people come tothe beaches part of the experience is some element of gathering in and around the beaches. End of quote.

He further stated that there have been recommendations about limiting the number of people that visit the beaches but the logistics of managing that are not feasible.

People the Prime Minister said have shown time and time again that they are not responsible when it comes to the COVID 19 virus, we cannot rely on the population to treat the virus with the respect that it deserves.

Therefore in the future  we can add that risk to risk package, however with the news of the Omicron variant that may be delayed.

The Prime Minister added that We will go back to the beaches at the first opportunity, if not a full day, part of the day.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to highlight the need for vaccination in the fight against COVID 19, he further stated that his concern is that there are so many people in Tobago who decide to take on the virus, ride it out, and not use the help given by the vaccine, i am a little disappointed he added.

If there was co-operation Tobago could have already achieved herd immunity, the Prime Minister stated.
