Prime Minister Gaston expresses his condolences to the family of Zambi, who died in a fire early Wednesday morning.
The 66-year-old originates from the neighbourhood of Bobie Alley. Zambi was a Rastafarian who resided alone and was regarded as a reserved man who kept to himself most of the time by his neighbours.
He was born in Antigua but spent several years in the U.S. Virgin Islands before returning to his birthplace about 12 years ago.
Along with his sympathies, Prime Minister Browne stated that the development of Bobie Alley remains a top priority for his government.
“I send my heartfelt sympathies to the deceased’s family,” Browne said. “This is precisely one of the risks that we were hoping to reduce by redeveloping the BobieAlley neighbourhood.”
The neighbourhood has to be developed right away to preserve inhabitants’ lives, health, and livelihoods while also providing them with high-quality homes and a better living environment, according to the PM.
“It’s an empowerment program,” he adds.
