Antigua Sailing Week (ASW) organizers have announced an online fundraising auction that will begin on December 13th and run for seven days through December 20th, just in time for the holiday season.
The organization relies on yearly profits from boat entries, sponsorships, ticketed events, and retail sales to pay operational expenditures as a non-profit national event.
The world’s unusual condition has prevented the event from taking place for two years in a row, resulting in a considerable reduction in operational funds for the organization.
The auction will serve two purposes: it will raise much-needed operational revenue, and it will also give a chance to promote and sell a varied range of accommodations, eating, services, and activities available to visitors and residents of Antigua.
“Despite our limited resources, we have been able to attract 60 official entries to date, which is more than double the number for this period compared to three years ago.”
“Of course, we’d like to see a bumper year with the return to racing,” says event organizer Rana Lewis, “but we’ll need this additional support from the community and supporters to make that happen.”
