Global Market and Antigua and Barbuda are witnessing close gap relationships at Expo 2020

Special Projects and Events Coordinator at the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority Shermain Jeremy is hoping that stakeholders in the sector can find creative ways to bridge the gap between the country and the global market.

Jeremy who was speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing Expo 2020 in Dubai says with the right connections in place, the sector can see much more improvements.

“One of the things we try to do was to find things that would connect the people of Antigua and the people of Dubai. Cricket is very popular here. We also have a retail space where we sell all things local from Antigua and Barbuda to the people  of Dubai, visitors and other people at the Pavilion.”

“Our top seller is our Suzie hot sauce and our local jam,” Special Projects and Events Coordinator added.

Over 190 countries are taking part in the event which is held every five years in Dubai to showcase the culture of countries worldwide.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Gilbert Boustany foresees a bright future for the country.

“What expo 2020 is doing and what it stands for is giving all of us from 192 countries that are here the actual opportunity to expose ourselves and connect ourselves and our minds. Giving that next generation the ability to create what is unthinkable now, it is doing. This is the perfect opportunity and hopeful when things get  a little bit better. We will start to increase back our tourism product.” Boustany said.
