Ministry of Agriculture opens book of condolences in memory of fallen colleague Debbie Francis

(Real News) – A book of condolences has been opened at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Barbuda Affairs, as members of staff continue to mourn the loss of their colleague and friend Debbie Francis.

In her memory, the Ministry held a formal signing event today, October 20, and the book will be handed over to Francis’ family.

Minister of Agriculture Samantha Marshall; Parliamentary Secretary Knacyntar Nedd; Permanent Secretary Colin O’Keiffe; the heads of departments; staff; and other stakeholders all came together to pay their respects.

Francis served as Communications Officer at the Ministry and has been described as a very hard-working and dedicated team player who always put her job first and gave it her best.

“We are deeply saddened by her passing, and we once again extend our deep condolences to the family and friends of Debbie Francis, and may she continue to rest in eternal peace,” the Ministry wrote in a release.

Francis’ passing on Sunday, October 18, also sent shockwaves across the media fraternity.

She worked as a news reporter for ABS Radio and Television for decades, and then served as Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.

Francis will be buried today.
