Production of the 40th Anniversary of Independence commemorative magazine has been completed, but the general public will have to wait a little longer before copies are made available.
The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission engaged the services of BARNES MEDIA GROUP Ltd. to undertake production of the magazine and according to its principal partner, Everton Barnes, the magazine is one with which all of Antigua and Barbuda will be proud.
Barnes revealed that along with messages from the Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams; the Prime Minister, Hon. Gaston Browne; the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Jamale Pringle; and Festivals Minister, Hon. Daryll Matthew, the magazine also features reviews of the performance of several key sectors in the country over the past forty years.
Additionally, there are other articles highlighting the culture of the country including its language and the national pastime, the Warri game. Three musical giants, the late King Swallow, Burning Flames and Halcyon Steel Orchestra are also highlighted.
There is also a special feature on the sister island Barbuda that includes a pictorial of some of the island’s attractions.
The electronic version of the magazine will be released on October 31st, with a printed hard copy version available the week of Independence.
