Cabinet requested an Update on the COVID- 19 condition in Antigua and Barbuda

The Government sought an update on the COVID-19 condition in Antigua and Barbuda from the Honourable Minister of Health, Molwyn Joseph.

The Minister offered more specifics than he did in his previous briefing to parliament the day before.

Due to a drop in the number of unvaccinated persons in the population, the number of daily infections is falling.

Approximately 2,000 children between the ages of 12 and 17 have yet to obtain their Pfizer vaccine, although more than 75 per cent of eligible students have already had their first shot, according to the Minister.

The US has agreed to deliver 17,600 Pfizer vaccine doses, with the second shipment expected to arrive by the end of October.

After then, a third tranche in the same amount shall be delivered.

Thousands of AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Sinopharm, and Janssen and Janssen vaccines remain on the market; hence, no adult may be excused due to a shortage of vaccinations.

The best vaccination is the one that is currently accessible.
