ABUT fills vacant seat with an Interim President following the resignation of Kimdale McKellar

The Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers has a new interim president, following the resignation of President Kimdale McKellar who left that position on Monday, October 2021.

Mackellar was elected to the post in 2020 after the resignation of then-president Ashworth Azille who also resigned abruptly.

First Vice-President Tasheba Frederick has been appointed interim President.

Frederick’s position will be reviewed when the union holds its biannual election sometime this year.

Mckellar did not give reasons why he left the position, but according to reports, there has been some contention within the union about the government’s mandatory vaccination policy.
