Leader of the United Progressive Party Harold Lovell says Antigua and Barbuda can become the centre for aviation education in the Caribbean.
But he told the 2nd Virtual Diaspora Public Program last night, that only a UPP administration can ensure that plan materializes.
“That means focusing on avionics it means aviation security, management, operations, every aspect of aviation. We are geographically well-positioned,” Harold Lovell says.
“We have the assets the old terminal building, the old panel base that’s continuous with the airport and disused runway, so we have the assets that need to be properly harnessed and mobilize so that we create the basis for that aviation sector.”
He says a UPP government will build the aviation sector on three major pillars.
“Once cargo as a cargo hub secondly repair and maintenance where we utilize the skills acquired by many of our LIAT engineers so that can become the basis for developing a thriving industry in so far as repair and maintenance operations are a concern. Thirdly education, we feel that Antigua can become the centre of aviation education in the Caribbean,” Lovell added.
