A small group of faculty, students and alumni of the University of the Virgin Islands staged a protest yesterday morning against a decision by administrators to only accept people who are fully vaccinated against coronavirus back on campus.
The trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands voted on June 19 to require students and employees to be fully vaccinated for the fall semester.
Staff had until August 1 to comply while students and faculty were given until by August 9 and 11.
Armed with placards that bore slogans such as “My body, my choice”, “Reverse the Mandate” and “No forced vaccinations” the protestors marched from the Emile Griffith Ball Park to the island’s legislature in Charlotte Amalie.
There have been a series of anti-vaccine protests across the Caribbean this week.
