Employees at leading Luxury Resort contract Covid-19

The Ministry of Health is currently conducting contact tracing at one of Antigua’s Luxury Resort.  News broke yesterday of concerns at this resort with regards to several persons testing positive for the Covid-19 virus.

The persons testing positive include the Resorts General Manager, Executive Chef, Financial Controller and some line staff from the kitchen and one of the Resort’s restaurants. Some of whom are known to be fully vaccinated.

Trumpet News understands that some employees have been asked to remain at home in isolation until they have been tested to avoid spreading the virus any further.

Our newsroom further understands upon finding out of the initial case, Management began internal contact tracing, while at the same time advising the Ministry of Health of the situation.

One employee of the Resort who spoke to Trumpet News informed us that the Management was quick to spring into action to ensure that suspected employees who came into contact with the first known individual were isolated and asked to subject themselves for testing.

We have since learned that other Resorts on the island have also had persons including fully vaccinated Guests testing positive for Covid-19 which is becoming a concern for the Ministry of Health Officials.

Meanwhile, many individuals are concern with the delay of the Ministry’s Covid-19 dashboard and are speculating that a spike in cases locally is expected.
