Cedar Valley Golf Club asked to ban member who is a sex offender

On or around January 9th 2019, the Board of Directors of the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited received recommendations from the Minister of Sports Hon. Daryll Matthew relating to the continued presence at the Cedar Valley Golf Club of an individual who has been convicted of Indecent Assault on a 13 year old girl.

Given that there is no automatic right to membership, the Board was asked to consider the institution of a ban on the membership, use, or presence of the convicted individual at the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited.

The premise for this directive was based on the individual in question being convicted in a court of law for a crime of a sexual nature against a minor, and the development of a vibrant youth program at the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited.

Between April 2019 and March 2021, the individual has not been present at the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited.

In April of 2021, the individual reemerged, and through an administrative oversight, commenced using the facilities once again.

The Board of Directors and Management of the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited is committed to ensuring that a wholesome and safe environment exists for all users of the Golf Course, especially the children who are part of our Youth Program.

The Board of Directors and Management respect the values and ethical standards expected by our partners…values that we share.

The Board of Directors and Management apologizes to the Members of the Cedar Valley Golf Club Limited, and the parents who have entrusted their children to our care at the facility.

The Board of Directors and Management wishes to assure the public that this vexing matter is being addressed.
