Barbuda’s MP sceptical about PM Browne’s announcement

Member of Parliament MP for Barbuda, Trevor Walker is not holding his breath on the announcement by Prime Minister Gaston Browne that the Barbuda Airways aircraft which will provide connection to Antigua and Barbuda, will be ready to fly in August.

PM Browne said recently that significant progress is being made and it is anticipated that work on the aircraft will be completed by the end of July.

However, Walker remains sceptical about that. In speaking to the press the MP said, “I am of the view that the Prime Minister said that in Parliament as a reaction and that my investigation up until yesterday (June 24) when I was in Antigua, nothing has been done for months and they are not doing anything at present on those air crafts.”

“When I left Antigua I saw them parked in some bushes,” MP Walker added.

The Member of Parliament for Barbuda thinks that the Prime Minister is “disingenuous” and has lied to the people because of the short time frame and the several aviation steps that must be taken before the plane would be ready to fly in August.

The aircraft will also be used for search and rescue operations.
