On Wednesday 21st of April 2021, an earthquake with magnitude 4.4 jolted parts of Antigua at 3:43 pm.
The Seismic Research Centre of the University of the West Indies said it was centred 63 Kilometers North West of St John’s.
Residents of various areas including All Saints reported feeling the tremor.
Sharing with Antiguan Trumpet is 45 years old Gwendolyn Antoine who is one of the respected residents living in the All Saints village for over 20 years.
“ I just went to the stove while cooking and I heard the dogs barking, when I looked at the eating table I realized the teacup was shaking,” she expressed.
“It was a slight vibration, nothing too heavy. So I called out to my neighbour to see if they felt the same shaking. I never thought this would be an earthquake. At first, I thought it was a truck passing,” Gwendolyn added.
An earthquake is a sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, as a result of movements within the earth’s crust or volcanic action.
The last recorded earthquake was recorded on the 26th of March 2021 in the Caribbean Sea, 76km east of St, John’s, Antigua by one quake of magnitude 2.5
