As much as I try to always be positive, I have to admit that we have reached our limits. People have had enough. We have had enough of being misled, enough of being lied to, enough of empty promises .
St. Johns is dead, like a ghost town. The majority of the people who are there are those who must be there. People are afraid to go out.
Some people have no money; some order online to avoid paying too much for a product but end up paying double because of the freight and taxes.
Some people try to go to the supermarket to buy cheaper products so they can save some money, but, at the end of the day, they spend the money they saved at the Doctor’s Office because of the additives in the cheaper products. Some die because they cannot afford the doctor or they put their trust in the herb doctor. Sadly, even medicinal herbs have their issues.
Some people prefer to work for themselves as they are afraid to work for a boss who will take advantage of them even though they make some money.
While some people queue for the Vaccine, others refuse to wear a mask, swearing they will not wear one. Some people just don’t seem to understand what is really happening or they just don’t care.
Some might call a friend to ask for some food, others will die of starvation as their pride will not allow them to ask for help.
Some would like to pay their bills but still have to spend 3 hours to get through. How can life be so hard- not even paying a bill is easy anymore. There is so much frustration and impatience.
Times are hard. Restaurants want to open, Bars want to open, singers want to sing, players want to play, children are longing to be children again.
People have forgotten the phone numbers and names of their friends.
WhatsApp has become the local newspaper.
One meal has to be split to make three meals.
Keep your distance. It’s a funeral, yes we lost someone we love but we cannot be too close.
If someone says that times are not hard, that person is a liar. Even the ones who currently earn a million dollars but who were accustomed to spending three million can no longer enjoy such a luxury .
Hopefully when everyone understands it’s time to trust the vaccine and get vaccinated, a light will start to shine in the corridor of hope for a brighter future.
Yes people, times are tough!
