The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda today approved the closure of ALL educational institutions with IMMEDIATE effect for a period of 2 weeks in the first instance.
This decision will be reviewed during the 2 weeks period to determine if an extension is necessary as the Government continues to monitor the rise in Covid-19 infections. Student across the country will however, revert to the E-learning platform for classes which will continue remotely.
Trumpet News further learnt that Principals along with the Director of Education Mr Clare Brown were given the latitude on a case by case basis to determine whether students in examination classes could attend classes at the school plant while observing the health protocols.
The closure of the schools come amidst a serious spike in Covid-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda. Trumpet News has learnt that the next Dashboard to be released will show an even greater number than was reported in the previous 3 dashboards released by the Ministry of Health.
Our source informed our newsroom that the number could be as high as 19 News laboratory confirmed Covid -19 cases.
