The local Aids Secretariat today kicked off their week of activities to commemorate Worlds Aids day, today.
Under the theme, “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact” representatives from the local body will join with others around the world to continue to bring awareness to this disease.
On December 2nd, the local arm will host a street talk program infront of their office on the corner of Temple and Long street. The following day, will me media day where several representatives will visit various media houses around the country speaking on the health matter.
On December 4th, the Aids Secreatariat will host an outreach program at Judgement Square while next Monday they will offering free testing at the office.
Oswald Hannys who is a Counselor and Educator attached to the Aids Secretariat continues to encourage members of the public to get tested and educated about the disease.
He shared that with their latest statisitcs from 2019, 1003 persons are presently living in Antigua and Barbuda who have the virus while 301 deaths have been recorded since the first case was uncovered back in 1985.
