Community activist Jason “Mud Man” Shaw is disappointed in the people of the Grays/Green community, saying their will to effect change is nothing like it was in the past.
Shaw says the residents of the community were once outspoken and willing to stand up for their rights when threatened by external forces. But this appears not to be the case anymore, he says, as residents seem content to sit back and allow persons to walk all over them.
His comments come as the struggle to have the community centre at Knuckle Block handed over to the people continues, and as he pledges to agitate for their rights.
Shaw says the community spirit and strength that residents once possessed have been manipulated by politicians in their attempts to divide and conquer.
On the other hand, the community activist says that some residents do not want to stand up for their rights because they fear losing jobs that were obtained through a politician.
However, he says he will continue to lead the fight until the centre is handed over to the people of the Grays/Green community.
