UK lockdown sees British Airways suspending flights here from next weekend until December 11

British Airways (BA) is suspending commercial flights from London Gatwick to Antigua and Barbuda, even as local tourism officials are predicting a bumper winter season.

The suspension of flights comes after the UK Government announced a national lockdown for London, as that country’s COVID-19 infections have begun to spike dramatically, threatening to overwhelm the healthcare system.

The suspension period runs from November 13 to December 10, with the resumption of British Airways service here planned for December 11.

According to the airline, the last scheduled flights from London Gatwick to Antigua & Barbuda are between November 6 and 11, but excluding the 10th.

The airline is advising affected customers to get in touch with BA’s contact centre or their local travel agent.

Other islands affected by the suspension include Barbados, Grenada and St Lucia.
