Prime Minister meet owners of Willie Jean’s Gourmet Herbs and Spices

Each week, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has engaged numerous local entrepreneurs, offering support for their business ventures as he commends the innovation of citizens during the harsh economic realities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Browne had the privilege of meeting three (3) former LIAT flight attendants who have now ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. The three business women, Ms. Jamila Jonas who owns Willie Jean’s Gourmet Herbs and Spices, Ms. Kemberly Greenway, owner of Sattva Essentials candles and oils and Mrs. Uchenna Robertson owner natural hair care products Ebony Essentials, paid a visit to PM Browne at his office on Queen Elizabeth Highway.

The former flight attendants now turned business owners used the opportunity to showcase some of their products indicating that majority of their ingredients are all sourced locally.

Jamila Jonas, owner of Willie Jean’s Gourmet Herbs and Spices revealed that LIAT was her first and only place of employment for approximately thirty (30) years. Kemberly and Uchenna both spent fifteen (15) years as a flight attendants at LIAT before the regional airline was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our wings were clipped,” Jamila said.

During the meet and greet, PM Browne expressed his admiration for the creativity and resilience the business women have displayed.

“Very, very impressive! I want to commend each of you for all the work you have done. All of the research in putting these products together. They are expertly done and the packaging is beautiful. I want to wish you continued success. You have shown a great deal of resilience,” the country’s leader said.

PM Browne continued, “If there is anything at all the government can do to assist you, please let us know. I wish you all the best, on behalf of the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.”
