James continues undefeated streak

Laurence ‘Loz’ James, Antigua’s first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) professional fighter continued his winning ways over the weekend.

Walking out to Drastic’s song ‘Sweet Antigua’ and adourning the Antiguan and Barbudan flag acorss his back, the 31 year old UK native pushed his undefated record to 3-0 in England on Sunday afternoon after defeating Justin Powers in the first round by way of submission. 

This is James’ firt win by submission. 

The Celtic Gladiator event was initially slated for November 14th but was pushed back to Sunday 22nd November with three five minute rounds. 

Celtic Gladiator is an Irish Premier MMA Promotion company. 

James who’s grandparents hail from Cedar Grove stayed true to his word when he spoke previously to this media house when he shared his confidence of his chances in winning the match and ending the contest in the first round.

“Mr. Calm” as the commentator dubbed him did not seem to be in a spot of bother through out the match which lasted a little over two minutes. 

This is his final match for the year for James but he says he is “already looking forward to next year’s challenges” as he is forecasted to compete in a number of top tier fights. 

Before that however, James is expected to visit the island in March alongside his teammates from the Mancester Top Team gym to put on a number of exhibition matches and clinics.
