Trade Minister Paul “Chet” Greene wants small manufacturers and creative industries to pool their resources to make it easier to get their products into the international market.
Greene’s suggestion comes after a young businessman, Khalil Francis, who owns a clothing line, spoke about the hardships and restrictions he and others experience in trying to export their goods.
The cost attached to such expansion was one of Francis’ concerns.
While Greene acknowledges that this is a challenge to local manufacturers, he says cooperation among small business owners is vital.
The Trade Minister says the export market has not been very friendly to small businesses in micro states, and that it will take joint creative ideas to cover them.
Another challenge, Greene says, is that one manufacturer is unable to fill a container with its products. Therefore there must be practical ideas in place to allow local products to be shipped to the USA and other markets.
