The Receiver of the Jolly Beach Hotel reported to the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda on the offer by another group to purchase the property.
The hotel has been in bankruptcy and owes the Government and many of its statutory bodies more than EC$80,000,000 in debt.
It makes the Antigua and Barbuda Government the hotel’s largest debtor, and therefore causes the Government to take a special interest in the sale of the property.
Staff members of the hotel are also owed significant sums, and the Cabinet continues to do its best to protect those interests.
