StarFish Halcyon is now a Government run Quarantine Facility

The StarFish Halcyon Resort is now being used as a Government-run quarantine facility, according to sources.  Reports are that it commenced housing quarantined persons last week.

This comes after the Hawksbill Hotel asked that Government surrender its property, so that it could welcome tourists for the upcoming Winter Season.

In September, the Cabinet had announced that it would use the former US Naval Base facility at Coolidge as a quarantine centre.

However, it noted that some remedial work would be needed to ready the facility, including the installation of a generator and proper water services.

The Ministry of Works is expected to undertake the task of retrofittingthe facility, but there has been no word on when repairs will commence.
