Police officers complain to Welfare Association that storeroom is out of uniforms and sanitary supplies

Police officers say they are unable to obtain uniforms and other amenities required to do their job because their storeroom has run out of supplies.

The Vice Chairman of the Police Welfare Association (PWA), Corporal Marilyn Harris, says her membership reports that not even hand-sanitizers or disinfectant – which are vital supplies during this COVID-19 pandemic – are in stock.

Harris is calling for the intervention of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the Government.

Earlier this year, other representatives of the PWA told REAL News that in circumstances where officers provided their own uniforms, they were advised not to submit any invoices, since they would not be refunded.

In other instances, they said, officers whose boots were worn out had to resort to buying their own shoes.
