The country’s law enforcement agencies have again seized a large quantity of cannabis; over 123 pounds. The contraband was discovered during two separate drug operations by officers from the Police, Customs and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard.
The first operation yielded 100 pounds of Cannabis on the 1st of August when a bale of the illegal substance was discovered floating along Nonsuch Bay during a sea patrol by the Coast Guard. It was handed over to the police for further investigations. Meanwhile, the Police along with Customs Division seized an additional 23 and half pounds at the Deep Water Harbour today.
The cannabis was said to have been found among children’s clothing shipped from California. Police have intensified their investigations, there have so far been no arrests in connection with these seizures.
